Reproduction. According to Shirley, the responsibility of Schöner for this map has been disproved; it has however been proved to be based on the globe that appeared in Hans Holbein the Younger's painting The Ambassadors; though the author is not known, it is believed that his gores were based on Maximilian of Transylvania's De moluccis insulis (Shirley, map 62 - date of reproduction also drawn from Shirley entry).
