Ellison Lassell Crawford correspondence
Manuscripts
Crawford wrote these letters to his father James B. Crawford. In the letters Ellison Crawford describes his life in California. He includes descriptions of Sacramento, San Francisco as well as the mining camps Willow Creek, Spanish Diggings, and Spanish Bar. Crawford also talks about mining and the difficulties in finding gold, trying to attend church regularly, bad weather, selling supplies to his fellow miners, the Chinese mining near him, vigilance committee activity, murders, and crime in general.

Visual Materials
An album of photographs of monuments on Gettysburg Battlefield, Pennsylvania. The photographs date from approximately 1883 to 1890 and most have the imprint of photographers J. L. Rile & Co. or W. H. Tipton. The majority are detail views of the stone monuments, with a few showing surroundings. Six of the mounted photographs were removed from the album and are housed in a separate box (Box 2).

Ten volumes of photographs illustrating the development of Gettysburg National Military Park over the years 1893 to 1916. Photographs show work done under the direction of the federally-appointed Gettysburg National Park Commission, chaired by Colonel John P. Nicholson. Scenes include repairing of roads, stone walls, and fences; construction of new roads; general views of landscape features and terrain; and monuments and markers placed at significant battle locations. In some volumes, the images have handwritten captions. The albumen prints are approximately 9 1/2 x 7 1/2 inches, mounted on board, and some later images have the imprint of photographer W. H. Tipton.
