    Rare Books

Kashnor notes, "An exceedingly rare map by Terasson, an hitherto unknown map-maker. Probably only a few were issued for educational purposes by Willdey, after which the plate passed into the possession of Senex, who simply altered the title and dedication. In the far west the map follows La Hontan in showing the River of the West passing north of the Rockies. This is probably the first good map to show the existence of the Columbia and the Western Sea." See 093:238 for Senex copy. "H. Terasson, Delin et Fecit., London" Cartouche: Portrait of King George with borrowed symbols. Vignette: Items sold by George Willdey at the Great Toy Shop next to the Dogg Tavern in Ludgate Street at very reasonable prices. Prime meridian: London. Relief: pictorial. Graphic Scale: Miles, leagues. Projection: Pseudocylindrical. Printing Process: Copper engraving. Other Features: Cartouche Vignettes. Verso Text: MS notes: 105/718 North America.
