A scrapbook of 33 photographs chiefly of President Theodore Roosevelt's visit to San Francisco, California, from May 12-14, 1903. In addition to photographs of Roosevelt delivering speeches and making public appearances, there are five photographs of the 9th Cavalry ("Buffalo Soldiers"), an African American unit that served as Roosevelt's Honor Guard during his visit. There are some scenes from the San Francisco area that appear unrelated to the President's visit, including one photograph of Chinese men and two of unidentified bare-chested young indigenous women with white men.
