Los Angeles Airport: manuscript
Manuscripts
The manuscript, written by Sherwood, covers the history of the Los Angeles International Airport, from the initial $12,500 airport bond issue presented by LA Mayor Fletcher Bowron in 1945 to the airport as it stood in 1979. Sherwood talks about the history of aviation and passenger air travel in California, the choice for the location of the airport, and the difficulties overcome in its construction. Also included are several black and white photographs as well as a blueprint: "Ultimate Boundaries of the Los Angeles Airport" (1945, March). Sherwood also talks about various airlines coming to the new airport. The scrapbook contains 70 pages of newspaper clippings all related to the airport bond issue of 1945.
