There is a boat with a striped canopy and seven or eight people on it being rowed across the center of the image. There are also a few people standing or sitting on the shore. There are several unoccupied small boats on the water, as well as a three mast sailing ship, and few sailboats with their sails up. Writing in white at the bottom reads "Avalon Bay, Catalina. ; 1904."
