The UCLA campus is in the center of the image, with the Men's and Women's Gymnasiums at the bottom of the hill, in front of Royce Hall and College Library (now Powell Library). There are numerous automobiles parked in front of the gymnasiums. Westwood Village is visible on the far right. The road in the foreground is labeled "Beverly Blvd." in white, though there is no corresponding Beverly Boulevard in Westwood today. Writing in white in the bottom center reads "Made 1931 ; Pettit's Studio ; 1416 W. Pico L.A. ; RI. 8534".
