Burlington Northern passenger cars
Rare Books
"This book is the first of a series that will show, through drawings and photographs, the large and varied passenger car fleets of the railroads which are Burlington Northern. The cars in these fleets are of special interest for several reasons. For example, Great Northern's Empire Builder was the first completely new streamliner to enter service after WWII and was the first train to feature Day-Nite coaches with leg-rest seats, and sleepers with ice water on tap in all private rooms. ... Many of the cars contained herein have been rebuilt, sold, or scrapped before the BN merger and are included here because they are especially interesting or significant"--From Introduction.
