This collection primarily consists of business correspondence addressed to Henry M. Yerington, vice president of the Virginia & Truckee Railroad. Subjects include mines and mineral resources in Nevada and Cerro Gordo, California; pumping machinery, and water rights in Inyo County, California. Of particular interest is a payroll sheet for Chinese laborers (HM 66180) at the Carson Dump, a large lumberyard a mile south of Carson City, Nevada, and James A. Yerington's Hand Book for Homeward- Bound Travellers from India, Australia, and the East, published by Henry S. King & Co., which contain his notes (HM 66181).

A collection which consists of approximately 12,500 items; it includes letters, documents, account books, and business records collected by Gerald John Kane related to the history of Nevada (1839-1952). The collection includes material about mining companies, business firms, land, railroads, stage lines, and politics, centering around Austin, Virginia City, Nye County, Ormsby County, Goldfield, Dayton, and Lander County, Nevada. Additionally, there is material about Adolph Sutro and the Sutro Tunnel Company; miscellaneous papers related to land and mining in California and Arizona; Army records of Archie W. Barrie and photographs from the Philippine Islands; and volumes related to taxation in Utah.

The collection consists of the business correspondence and papers of the Sierra Nevada Silver Mining Company. There are also documents related to the court case of the Sierra Nevada Silver Mining Company v. the American Mining Company (1862-1863). The Sierra Nevada Silver Mining Company was legally represented by William Morris Stewart, and there are seven documents in the collection related to him. Other subjects covered include mines and mineral resources in Virginia City, Nevada and the Comstock Lode, Nevada.

This collection contains correspondence, business papers, 16 ledger books, maps and reports of the Consolidated Virginia Mining Company of Virginia City, Nevada, dating from 1876-1955. The 112 rolled maps in collection, dating from 1876 to 1947 document the early period, the general mining district, and other mines and mining claims on the Comstock Lode such as the Ophir mines and the Mexican Gold and Silver Mining Company. One map is signed by Charles Frederick Hoffmann. The collection includes an account book and many letters of Zeb Kendall, president of the firm.
