Also included are autograph letters by Joyce to various recipients, and the correspondence of Donald S. Friede concerning his publication and the copyright of Joyce's Work in progress. The second series includes 169 items of supporting material (1939-1973) which consists chiefly of correspondence between John Hinsdale Thompson, booksellers, and other Joyce scholars; the majority of these letters are addressed to Thompson. Also contains manuscripts, printer's material, printed material, and ephemera concerning Joyce scholarship.
