An original typescript draft of Paul Theroux's third novel, "Girls at play," with holographic corrections in Theroux's hand. The novel, set in East Africa, concerns the ambitions of three white women teachers at a girls' school. The novel was represented by literary agent H. N. Swanson and published in 1969 by The Bodley Head in the United Kingdom and by Houghton Mifflin Company in the United States. This draft appears to be that used by Houghton Mifflin.
