Provenance: Purchased from Maggs Bros. of London, June 18, 1952. Thomas W. Newton sorted and arranged a portion of the William Pulteney Papers, as noted in his letter to Frederick Ouvry, July 29, 1880 (PU 2087). In the process of arranging the material, Newton numbered each item in red ink; these numbers were not used by the Huntington cataloger, nor were they noted on the folders or in the finding aid.
