This small collection consists of materials by and about Dr. James Fulton Percy. Nearly half of this collection is comprised of offprints of medical articles written by Dr. Percy, particularly about cancer treatment using cauterization. Also included are papers and a report on cancer treatment. There is also a small amount of biographical information about Dr. Percy, including data sheets and bibliographies, certificates, material about Dr. Percy's wife Roberta, and eulogies, obituaries and papers pertaining to the New York University alumni hall fund in his name. In addition are Dr. Percy's own comments on his 1913 visit to the Paris School of Medicine. There are also many photographs, including: portraits of Dr. Percy, photographs marked for publication by the Los Angeles County Medical Association for inclusion in its Bulletin, portraits and group portraits, two dauguerreotypes of Dr. Percy's female ancestors. Included is an original drawing used in one of Dr. Percy's publications.

William James McDermott papers

Miscellaneous papers, chiefly official documents and correspondence related to McDermott's career, particularly his military service. Included are orders, appointments, commissions, reports, requests and bills for medical supplies, and correspondence. The papers contain a report on the examination and treatment of those wounded at the Battle of the Wilderness, and a letter to his father describing the aftermath of the Battle of Cold Harbor and the Siege of Petersburg. There are also McDermott's credentials, his Masonic diplomas and correspondence, passports, certificates, and other documents. Also included are poems and an essay on the history of the City University of New York, written by McDermott, as well as, scattered family records, some daguerreotype portraits, an 1873 notebook containing formulas for medicines kept by Dr. John B. Crosby, and a petition signed by "Her Majesty's Protestant subjects" of St. John, New Brunswick, about a ban on secret societies, which was allegedly sought by "Roman Catholics" in order to "prevent Protestants meeting together to hold loyal associations," dated 1844.

Charles Leroy Lowman Papers

This collection contains material related to Dr. Charles Leroy Lowman's book Techniques of Underwater Gymnastics, published by American Publications in 1937. The collection is housed in two grey upright boxes and is organized alphabetically by folder title. Box 1 contains Lowman's handwritten notes on the chapters of the book, material relating to the medical profession and other practitioners of hydrotherapy, correspondence regarding his techniques and the book's publication, and many photographs of treatment facilities and of orthopedic techniques and exercises. Box 2 contains a draft and proof versions of his monograph, and includes editorial markings and revisions on the documents themselves.

Emil Bogen papers

This collection chiefly contains the papers, articles, notes, and research material of Dr. Emil Bogen. It also includes printed material such as off-prints of Bogen's and others' articles from medical journals. The material spans from Bogen's time in high school until his death in 1962. Subjects include: alcoholism, tuberculosis, the use of streptomycin, death, animal experimentation, diseases in World War II, hepatitis, childbirth, pathology, breast cancer, malaria, public health and poisonous spiders. Other subjects include: the Olive View Sanatorium, the Los Angeles County Hospital, and the California Tuberculosis and Health Association.
