A collection of material related to the life and career of Benson John Lossing. The collection includes correspondence, documents, drawings, photographs, a ciphering book, printed material, and ephemera. The correspondence deals with Lossing's business and social affairs; also included are letters written by his son, Edwin Lossing, concerning his position and the loss of it in the United States Navy. The drawings range from rough pencil sketches to finished ink wash drawings; a majority of them are identified. The eighteen photographs were probably used as illustrations in his books. There are also miscellaneous photographic prints, newspaper clippings, and ephemera.

A collection of material related to the work and family of Benson John Lossing; the collection contains correspondence, family papers, photographs, drawings, documents, and ephemera. The correspondence includes letters written by Lossing and addressed to him; maps and photographs of The Ridge, Lossing's home in Dover Plains, New York; engravings and drawings; genealogical material; financial documents including insurance papers, estate inventories, accounts, and deeds. The collection also includes the diaries kept by Lossing's children Edwin John Lossing and Helen Lossing Johnson; surveys conducted by the Bureau of Ordnance of the U. S. Navy, and a Treasurer's daybook for Dutchess County, New York from 1836 to 1842, kept by Nehemiah Sweet, Lossing's father-in-law. The material in this addenda has been sorted but not fully cataloged.

A collection of material related to Benson John Lossing; the collection includes correspondence, manuscripts, diaries, notebooks, drawings, photographs, and ephemera. The correspondence includes letters written by Lossing, many illustrated with sketches, which he wrote to his family during his travels in preparation for his "Pictorial Field Book of the Revolution." There are also letters by Lossing, chiefly retained copies, to his scholarly associates and publishers. The miscellaneous material includes printed biographical pamphlets, a small scrapbook related to Lossing, genealogical materials concerning the Lossing and other related families, photographs, newspaper clippings, forms, and other ephemera. The collection also includes some unidentified and uncataloged manuscripts, drawings, photographs, sketches, notes, and ephemera.
