Papers detailing La Opinión's ownership, its dissolution from Tribune and status as an independent company, congratulatory letters, and the launch of La Opinión's parent company, ImpreMedia. Announcement of Monica C. Lozano as CEO of La Opinión (2004). Correspondence and press releases about the launch of HOY! LA, a major competitor for La Opinión in Spanish language print media beginning in 2003/2004. Letter from La Opinión employee Ruben Morales to the Lozano family notifying them of his retirement. This box also includes material from Ignacio E. Lozano Jr. such as his 1993 correspondence, speeches given from 1986-1993, photocopies of old photographs of Ignacio E. Lozano Jr., and articles that mention him from 1976 to 1991, as well as a book titled "Torrey Pines Remembered" gifted to him around 2004.

Lozano Jr. series includes materials from the Los Angeles-based Spanish-language daily newspaper, La Opinión, and business papers and ephemera from former La Opinión editor and publisher, Ignacio E. Lozano Jr. The La Opinión materials primarily span the 1990s and 2000s, and the bulk of the Ignacio E. Lozano Jr. Papers are from the 1970s. Audiovisual materials include primarily audio cassette tapes, as well as video cassettes, a small box of VHS tapes, and some born digital materials (CDs and DVDs), related to La Opinión. Notable materials from Ignacio E. Lozano Jr. include correspondence and business from his time as United States Ambassador to El Salvador (1976-1977). Ignacio E. Lozano Jr. and La Opinión ephemera, including personalized scissors, letter opener, notepads, stamp, and bumper sticker, are also present in the collection.

Contains La Opinión newspaper special issue inserts (1990-2013) including supplements about Latina women and children, Latino healthcare and health insurance, college readiness, and diversity. ImpreMedia healthcare inserts from 2013 and 2014 in Texas and Illinois. Large, matted photographs in folders of Ignacio E. Lozano Jr. receiving an award, Mexican President Ernesto Zedillo at La Opinión (2001), and an unnamed funeral service. La Opinión 22nd Annual Children's Art Contest Calendar (2007).

Ignacio E. Lozano Jr. Photographs and La Opinión Entertainment Photographs, Negatives, and Transparencies
Manuscripts
Contains primarily photographs, negatives, and transparencies of Ignacio E. Lozano Jr., as well as photographs, negatives, slides, and color transparencies that Monica titled "entertainment". These are likely images that La Opinión used in their newspaper issues, from the late 1980s to the early 2000s, including of actress and singer Itatí Cantoral, stills from the film Raising Victor Vargas, and of other music, film, and television stars. Also includes photographs of La Opinión staff, La Opinión pressrooms from approximately 1986 to 1999, and former California State Assembly member, Gloria Molina from approximately the 1990s to 2000s. Ignacio E. Lozano Jr. photographs include many headshots, group photos, and public appearances from approximately 1940s to the 2000s. Photographs are mostly inside envelopes within larger folders, kept within Monica's original groupings when possible.

This collection contains the professional papers of Monica C. Lozano from her tenure as Publisher and CEO of La Opinión and Senior Vice President of Newspapers for ImpreMedia LLC. The materials document various awards and honors that she received, correspondence with colleagues and collaborators, boards and committees that she served on, and clippings about her, her family, and the ImpreMedia LLC organization. Also included are presentations, photographs, correspondence and speeches from public appearances Lozano made at conferences, symposiums, panels, and other events. There are minimal materials related to her day-to-day work at La Opinión and ImpreMedia LLC. The La Opinión and Ignacio E. Lozano Jr. series consists of business papers and background on the newspaper, La Opinión supplemental and special issues, voting initiatives, photographs of employees and La Opinión anniversary parties and events, audiovisual materials, and ephemera. The series also includes personal and business papers from Ignacio E. Lozano Jr, Monica C, Lozano's father, particularly, correspondence from his time serving as United States Ambassador to El Salvador. The collection also contains unprocessed born digital media.
