This subseries contains twelve prints pertaining to carriages, coaches, wagons, and similar horse-drawn vehicles primarily in the United States between the 1830s and 1900. The prints include five broadsides and posters advertising the goods and services of wagon, carriage, and sleigh manufacturers; five prints depicting landscapes including an early 1870s view of Mount Shasta advertising the California and Oregon Stage Company (priJLC_TRAN_001870), views of factory buildings, and scenes promoting wagon and wheel companies; a broadside providing the toll rates of the Milford and Chillicothe Turnpike in southern Ohio (priJLC_TRAN_001361); and an advertisement for a Connecticut stage line (priJLC_TRAN_001195).

Charles Spencer, 3rd Earl of Sunderland, papers

A collection of 87 items from 1704 to 1710, it consists of papers relating to colonial affairs, accumulated by Sunderland during his tenure as Secretary of State. Included are letters, communications, and reports from the Board of Trade and colonial administration and legislative bodies, chiefly those of New Jersey and New York; with a few items from South Carolina, Virginia, and Massachusetts. Subjects included are Queen Anne's War; Lewis Morgan's conflict with New Jersey Governor Lord Cornbury; the Palatine settlements; colonial trade; and fisheries. Correspondents include Joseph Dudley, Lewis Morris, Edward Hyde (Lord Cornbury and later 3rd Earl of Clarendon), and others.

William Pulteney papers

The bulk of the collection consists of letters addressed to Sir William Pulteney, and an additional several hundred letters addressed to Sir James Murray-Pulteney (written 1790-1811). The collection includes the Johnstone and Pulteney families, including accounts of the death of Sir William Pulteney, Earl of Bath, and the publication of his Memoirs; also, numerous letters from Sir William Pulteney's brothers, sister, and father relating to family affairs. A large number of letters and documents deal with the administration of Sir William Pulteney's property in Scotland and his wife's properties in Bath, as well as letters from several agents discussing farming, limestone quarries, coal mines and mining. The collection also includes letters and documents dealing with the political affairs in Great Britain, 1765-1785, including Shropshire elections and politics, electioneering in general, and the American Revolution. In addition there is material that covers The East India Company, the Pulteney Bridge at Bath, the Birmingham Canal, road conditions in Scotland, liquor smuggling, Tobago under Governor George Ferguson and the organization of local militias (1800-1810).
