    Pocket notebooks containing memoranda and journal entries that Earl of Loudoun kept after he was appointed to America, during his service in the colonies, and the wake of his recall to London in March 1758. The entries record Loudoun's interactions with British and colonial authorities, including his patron Duke of Cumberland; letters sent and received; his orders, directives, and instructions as well as note various private meetings, diversions, etc.

    Accounts kept by Duncan Richmond between 1757-1758; there are six clearance notes in the hand of Earl of Loudoun. Also included are 32 receipts and accounts, mostly for feed and repairs, and the the account with Richmond (1758, Nov. 20), and Samuel Sackett (1758, July 22).

    Manuscripts

    Military records, mostly pertaining to the 47th Regiment of Colored Infantry including military orders, muster rolls, invoices, commissions, receipts, and certificates. Also, a character sketch and a letter of recommendation for Thomas Sumner Green, a typescript of My recollections of the Civil War, written by Thomas Sumner Greene in 1917, and letters to his parents from Tennessee and Louisiana, September 1862 to April 1865. One letter is written on the verso of a copy of the Selma Federal Union, the first Union newspaper printed in Selma, Alabama, 1850 April 28.

    Ann Moore journals, (bulk 1756-1760)

    Journals kept by Ann Moore during her two voyages in Maryland, Pennsylvania and New York (Aug. 1756 - Jan. 1757, and Dec. 1757 - Apr. 1758), and her voyage to England (Sept. 1760-June 1763). The manuscripts also contain Anne Moore's poetry, a copy of a letter to her from her "dear friend and tender companion" Alice Jackson (1778) and "A short testimony of Ann Moore concerning her friend and companion, Alice Jackson, deceased," family records, a copy of a letter from Elizabeth Prosser to her son (1798), and "a copy of a Prophecy for Ann More" (1783)

    Letterbook of correspondence with Henry Hastings, 3rd Earl of Huntingdon, Sir Henry Griffith and other Yorkshire officials regarding military affairs in wapentakes of Buckrose and Dickering

    Letterbook of correspondence between Henry Hastings, 3rd Earl of Huntingdon, then Lord Lieutenant of Yorkshire, the Privy Council, and various sheriff, bailiffs, and Justices of the Peace, mainly Sir Henry Griffith, and other Yorkshire officials. The correspondence deals with military affairs in wapentakes of Buckrose and Dickering; also, with muster lists, assessments, papers regarding poor relief, etc., copies of letters from Sir Thomas Postumus Hobby, Matthew Hutton and others. The letter book is in two volumes: Vol. I - 131 pages, 33 x 23 cm., sewn into a fragment of a 15th century manuscript on vellum; Vol. II - 44 pages, 30 x 21 cm., both volumes with damaged pages and loss of text.
