Contemporary copy of a letter stating that the House Committees on Public Buildings and Grounds recommend the continuance of the construction of the Capitol Dome. The letter is written to Simon Cameron, Secretary of War, by Samuel Foot and Charles R. Train. On the verso it states that this was "approved by the President Augt 8th, 1861." There is also a copy of a note: "I approve A. Lincoln Augt. 8th 1861."
