    Approx. 75 items: letters, notes, questionnaires from the time frame 1972 - 1981. Most of the material is letters asking Mr. Thomas (or someone at LAT) to complete a questionnaire. The most frequent response is a (form) letter which began "We here at The Times try always to cooperated with research efforts...but many unfortunately would require more time than any of us can spare." A small collection of the questionnaires is included in the folder. Most of the requests come from university students and professors.

    Chandler, Marilyn Brant

    Manuscripts

    Two letters and a note to Freddie Miller from Otis Chandler's wife, Marilyn Brant Chandler. Also in this folder is the envelope in which the letter came in, a handwritten note from Norman Brant Chandler to Otis Chandler regarding asking Freddie about a catalog, and eight pages of instruction on maintenance of the house, children, pets and the servants.

    Approx. 40 items. Letters, memos. Subjects include: many notes from Seidenbaum to W.; one letter asking W. about policy on staffers doing regular radio/TV gigs; "personal & confidential" note to W. regarding a raise for Seidenbaum; KCET, public television; taxes on mobile homes; "the current dismal FM {radio} situation"; KCET's offer of work to Seidenbaum; letters from readers praising Seidenbaum's stances; letter from The Channel City Club (S. Barbara) asking if Robert Elegant or Seidenbaum could speak before them; an invitation to "A Night in Camelot," a dinner commemorating John and Robert Kennedy; etc.

    Correspondence - Nixon, Richard

    Much autograph material by Nixon, some news clippings, and primarily, correspondence between Nixon and Bassett, who were close friends. Correspondence also includes letters from RMN's secretary, signed photos of Nixon, map of a route he took during a worldwide trip, etc. Much of it dates to his time as a Congressman and Vice-President. Considerable discussion of changes needed in Republican party, issues related to international travel and journalism. There are a number of memos and letters from Nixon during the 1960 presidential campaign, outlining strategy, and commenting on prominent persons or situations of that time. There are letters from Henry Cabot Lodge (sent with related strategy material), to Billy Graham, and to Bassett asking for advice on how to express the "opposition party viewpoint" during a 1961 speaking tour. Richard Nixon letter dated December 28, 1954 removed from Autograph File and returned to Bassett files.

    Correspondence pertaining to a speech Otis Chandler gave at the Stanford University Alumni Roundtable on February 11, 1972. Items in this folder include a copy of The Stanford Alumni Almanac; a reprint of the Stanford Alumni Almanac; three items which include letter from Monitor Book Company, Inc., a tear sheet for the publication; and a leaflet about the publication. Seven pieces of correspondence which includes a congratulatory letter from Jack K. Horton, Chairman of the Board of Southern California Edison Company; a telegram from Ralph P. Davidson, Time, Inc. asking if he had any plans for dinner; a letter in which Otis Chandler responds that that he does, but will see him at the roundtable; a letter to Freddie Miller from Lyle M. Nelson, Chairman at Stanford University, confirming dinner plans; a note from Freddie Miller to Otis Chandler reminding him of the event; two letters from Della Van Heyst, Associate Director and Editor of Stanford Alumni Almanac, one letter is an invitation to participate and the other letters is confirmation letter.
