100 + items. Letters and memo. LAT opposition to Yorty's reelection in 1969 was a major issue that year, including many threatened cancellations (see below). Subjects and well-known correspondents include:LAT orders 10 articles by James Simon Kunen (author of The Strawberry Statement) from Sterling Lord Agency; Williams' answer to Mrs. Madigan, (6/3/1969) who had criticized LAT coverage of Mayor Yorty, is typical of many such letters--"When Sam Yorty was first elected...executives of The Times...informed him we would support him when we believed he was right and oppose him when we believed he was wrong," and W. also stated that this is the obligation of a newspaper; letter to J.
