    Approx. 12 items. Includes a "Confidential Questionnaire for Association of American Editorial Cartoonists. Also in the file are some letters to the Editor. One handwritten letter is an angry response to Times' coverage of Governor Reagan, alleging it to be "totally unfair and unjustified," and referring to Publisher Otis Chandler as "the young character running the Times." (Mr. Chandler was 40 at the time) In the same time frame, 1967, Walter Annenberg sent a note to James Bassett calling cartoonist Conrad--the target of much controversy--"talented," and expressing "enthusiastic admiration" for him. Correspondence discussing editorial cartoons and readership in more general terms.

It was headed with several different names over the years, including Information Notes, Editorial Library Information Notes, Editorial Library - New Library Materials, Flash - from Editorial Library, and New Resources - Los Angeles Times Editorial Library. The last two included bibliographic cites for newly acquired books and other materials.

    A copy of Otis Chandler's speech given at the Editorial Awards Dinner on January 30, 1963. Also included are newspaper clippings about the event; a thank you note from a attendee; a head table seating chart; a letter from Edward J. Reap to Ralph W. Harrison [Biltmore Hotel Banquet Manager] confirming the banquet details; a letter sent by Ralph W. Harrison to Edward J. Reap confirming the banquet and its menu, attached to this letter is a memo from Edward J. Reap to Nick Williams; a letter from Nick William's to Edward J. Reap regarding the banquet program schedule; a draft of a letter addressed to "Tom" from Otis Chandler and Nick William's informing "Tom" about the creation of the annual Los Angeles Times Editorial Awards; and two copies of the outline for the awards dinner.
