Also included in this folder is a clipping from the November 19, 1966 Ad Age, which discusses Otis Chandler's speech; four pieces of correspondence between Otis Chandler and Edward L. Gaylord, Executive Vice President of Oklahoma Publishing Company, requesting Otis Chandler as speaker, Otis Chandler accepting, Edward L. Gaylord thanking Otis Chandler for accepting, traveling to make the speech, and apologizes for the turnout [three of the letters are attached along with a memo from Freddie Miller to Otis Chandler, as a refresher about the presentation]; a newspaper clipping regarding the speech; memos between Otis Chandler and Nick Williams regarding ideas on what to right the speech about; a letter to Edward L. Gaylord, Executive Vice President of Oklahoma Publishing Company, from Freddie Miller requesting additional information about the Southern Newspaper Publishers Association for Otis Chandler for preparation of the speech; and a two page letter from Claude V. Capers, Manager in the Labor Relations Department at the Southern Newspaper Publishers Association, in which he sending the information requested.

Three copies of a speech given by Otis Chandler at the Los Angeles Ad Club on March 31, 1976. One of the copies has a note from Freddie Miller attached to it which briefs Chandler on the event. Other items in this folder include a letter from John W. Hill of Hill and Knowlton, Inc., in which he requests a copy of the speech; a memo from Frank Flood to Vance Stickell informing him of the meeting and what the Ad Club is requesting; a thank you memo from Vance Stickell to Otis Chandler, for agreeing to speak at the meeting; a letter from Miriam Austin, Secretary to Stuart C. Brandy, Vice President and General Manager of Shoreacres Broadcasting Company Limited, requesting a copy of the speech; a letter to Gladys Yonich of the Los Angeles Ad Club, from Freddie Miller in which Miller is sending Otis Chandler's biography and photograph; three letters of praise which have attached to them Otis Chandler's thank you response letters.

Also in this folder is the envelope in which the letter came in, a handwritten note from Norman Brant Chandler to Otis Chandler regarding asking Freddie about a catalog, and eight pages of instruction on maintenance of the house, children, pets and the servants.

McCord, Executive Editor at Arkansas Democrat, letting Chandler know he is going to be the one introducing him at the dinner; a letter from George A. Stauter, Chairman for Personnel '76 National Convention, regarding arrival plans; a thank you note from Sherry Stern, President of USC's Sigma Delta Chi Chapter; a note from Freddie Miller regarding hotel arrangements; four letters to Otis Chandler and a note to Freddie Miller from Henry Rieger, Vice President of Public Information at National Broadcasting Company, Inc., in which he invites him to be speaker, confirms the date, and sends his regrets for not attending; a letter from William Small, President of The Society of Professional Journalists, Sigma Delta Chi, inviting Chandler on a walking tour; a letter from Freddie Miller to William Small informing him that Chandler will not be able to attend the tour due to his arrival time; a note from Nancy Baltad, Chapter Delegate of the Los Angeles Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists and Hospitality Room Chairman, inviting Chandler to stop by the Hospitality room that the chapter and the LA Times are hosting; a letter to Russell E. Hurst, Executive Officer of The Society of Professional Journalists, Sigma Delta Chi, from Freddie Miller, in which she is sending him Chandler's biography and photograph; a letter from Russell E. Hurst requesting Chandler's biography, photograph and itinerary; three letters of praise, each has a thank you response letter from Otis Chandler; a letter, with an attachment, from Walter Burroughs informing Chandler of the compliments he's heard about the speech and also sends him a newsletter called "Update" which thanks Chandler for the great speech; and a four page edited copy of the speech sent out for reprint which has a note to Freddie Miller attached to it.

Three copies of a speech entitled "Can We Believe Washington" given by Otis Chandler at the Distinguished Alumnus Lecture at Stanford University on March 4, 1968. Also included in this folder are two copies of Seminar, A Quarterly Review for Newspapermen, which reprinted the speech; a copy of the Stanford Alumni Almanac which includes a reprint of the speech; twenty-four original and photocopies of newspaper clippings about the speech; a three page tentative schedule; two copies of a two page tentative schedule revised on 2/16/68; a dinner guest list with hand writing on it; a memo from Jeff Littleboy, Associate Editor for News and Publication Service at Stanford University, asking for an advance copy of the speech; a thank you letter from Clifford F. Weigle, Executive Head at Stanford University, thanking Otis Chandler for the visit, attached to the letter is the response letter from Otis Chandler; two letters of correspondence between Clifford F. Weigle and Freddie Miller, regarding the possibility of Otis Chandler holding seminars with students; three letters of correspondence, two are from Lyle L. Erb, editor of Seminar, in which he requests a copy of the speech and the other letter is a thank you letter, and the third letter is Freddie Miller responding and providing a copy of the speech; a memo from Robert C. Lobdell to Otis Chandler asking him is he is considering publishing his speech; three congratulatory letters; nine items of correspondence requesting copies of the speech, five letters are request, the other four of the letters are response letters attached to the request; a thank you letter from Ross Williams, an attorney, in regards to the receipt of a copy of the speech; a letter from Herbert Brucker, Director of Professional Journalism Fellowships at Stanford University, in regards to the speech topic and he also sends him a copy of an article; thirteen letters of correspondence between Otis Chandler, Freddie Miller and Lyle M. Nelson, Director of University Relations at Stanford University, regarding the details of the trip and the speech; and eight letters of correspondence to Otis Chandler, regarding the day of the speech and his responses to them.

Publisher's Reception for New Employees

Three pieces of correspondence pertaining to a speech given by Otis Chandler at the Publisher's Reception for New Employees on February 14, 1978. The first item is a note attached to the second item, a memo. The memo is from Freddie Miller and she refers to the memo attached which she sent out over Chandler's name. The third item is a memo sent from Bob Groundwater to Freddie Miller which is a list seating list for the executives.
