Description: 3 items: three transcripts of interview with John Mount, of Marketing Research, 9/23/1980. The interviewer was Marshall Berges. The three transcripts, white, tan and yellow paper, are identical with the exception of the fact that one is a "clean" copy and the other two have editing marks, and occasional word deletions and word additions. Mount's interview covers the operations of the Marketing Research Department.

This interview was not recorded on tape due to technically difficulties. The interview was put together using the notes of the interviewer.

Chandler, Otis

1 item: 66-pp. transcript of Marshall Berges' interview of Otis Chandler. He offers the interviewer his thoughts about big game hunting and what he calls "trophy hunting." It is not made clear but it seems the interviewer and Mr. Chandler were riding cross-country on his Oregon land. Notations at top of each page read Side 1 through Side 3 - probably tape sides.

1 item: 81-pp. transcript of Marshall Berges' taped interview of Otis Chandler. Subjects include: sport hunting ; philosophical musings on the meaning of hunting for 20th century humans ; auto racing ; mental discipline ; athletics ; tells interviewer "the last few years I have been somewhat bored...maybe that's too strong (a word)...not stimulated, not challenged." (Chandler was 52 at the time) ; thoughts on how long someone should remain in the position of publisher or other top media job ; future plans (1980s) ; his personal life, pending divorce, material things, peace of mind ; physical fitness, weightlifting ; "dirt bikes" ; relationships with his sons ; fishing ; hunting polar bears ; other hunting in Alaska ; hunting in Africa.

Weegar, Ted

1 item: 76-pp. transcript of interview with Ted Weegar, an LAT editor involved with the electronic editing system, etc. Notable names and subjects include: Weegar and interviewer Berges jump around a bit but much of the interview has to do with the electronic editing system ; Cecily Surace comes from RAND to be LAT Library Director and modernizes that department (pp. 18 - 20) ; description of the emerging electronic system of feeding stories between writers, editors and the data bank in the Editorial Library (around pp. 29) ; pagination (pp. 33) ; Weegar's childhood and youth (pp. 35 - 37) ; what led him into journalism (pp. 50) ; Richard Nixon (pp. 52 - 53) ; around 1960, Weegar was chosen to start up the LAT Opinion section (pp. 57 - 59) ; "those early years (with) Otis (as) publisher were terribly fun" (pp. 62 - 63).
