Dept., Brigham Young U., who asked W. to "indicate your own background and how you've been able to advance in the profession [of journalism]"; Williams response to letter from mayor of San Dimas explaining LAT decision to close its Pomona office; Williams response to a Claremont Men's College professor who had written alleging "sensationalism" in LAT coverage; letter from an executive of Horton & Converse (pharmacies) claiming LAT had run a damaging article; letters of congratulations to both Williams and William Thomas on retirement and promotion respectively; LAT staffers Champlin and Seidenbaum on KCET's "Citywatchers"; etc.

Nixon); Feather River water project; letter to Oregonian Editor Robert Notson, in which Williams writes of new Publisher Otis Chandler that he "will become a great one"; Times-sponsored charity football game & NAACP; correspondence with the Nieman Fellowship Committee; letter of appreciation from columnist Robert Novak, Washington, DC; 3-pp. letter in 1969 to Jack Nightscales (Vancouver Sun) on "the major challenge for [newspapers in] the '70s...will be to make them an essential part of their...audiences' daily lives"; series of letters between editor of the Picayune Item (Mississippi) and Otis C. and Williams about controversial story by LAT's staffer Ken Reich; awarding of the B-1 bomber contract; exchange of letters with Robert Neumann, US Ambassador to Afghanistan; W.'s letter to R.
