    Sigma Delta Chi - San Diego Chapter Meeting

    A copy of the speech given by Otis Chandler at the San Diego Chapter of Sigma Delta Chi on Wednesday, November 2, 1977. Other items in this folder include a note from Freddie Miller providing details about the evening; an article regarding the Tejon Ranch comments during the speech; two copies of notes for the speech, one is typed out the other handwritten; a thank you letter from Ralph B. Bennett, Chief Editorial Writer of the Evening Tribune; two letters of correspondence between Otis Chandler and Ralph B. Bennett in which Bennett is requesting Chandler to be speaker and Chandler thanks Bennett and accepts the invitation; two letters of correspondence between Otis Chandler and Robert M. Witty, Editor of the San Diego Daily Transcript, in which Witty sends the story Chandler had requested of him, and also sends copies of his paper, Chandler responds with a thank you letter.

    Times Mirror Company Annual Meeting

    A copy of a speech given by Otis Chandler at the Times Mirror Company Annual Meeting on Wednesday, May 22, 1968. Also included in this folder is an invitation to the meeting; two copies of the official agenda; a two page check list; three copies of a five page corporate attendance list, however one of them has a Management Conference Agenda attached to it, and the other has the Management Conference and Annual Meeting Schedule attached to it.; a thirteen page meeting script; a tentative agenda for the afternoon session; a luncheon list; a copy of the revised program; a draft copy of the remarks by Albert V. Casey; a letter from Robert F. Erburu to Otis Chandler informing Chandler of the meeting; a memo from Edward J. Reap to Paul Bertness regarding his absence from the meeting and the slide show presentation; two memos from Mrs. Norman Chandler [Dorothy "Buff" Chandler] to Richard S. Robinson regarding the Sun Company, the Orange Coast Publishing Company and 1967 Annual Report; a one page document regarding legalities regarding the Sun Company; and a memo from Robert D. Nelson to Mrs. Norman Chandler [Dorothy "Buff" Chandler] regarding the 1967 Annual Report.

    Cate School Commencement Address

    Four copies of a speech given by Otis Chandler at the Cate School Commencement Exercises on June 6, 1970. One of the copies includes an introduction. Other items included in this folder are three letters of correspondence with Frederick F. Clark, Headmaster at The Cate School, in which Clark ask Chandler to be speaker, Chandler accepts, and Clark thanks him and sends him information; two letters of correspondence between Otis Chandler and Al Neuharth, Executive Vice President and General Manager of The Gannett Newspapers, in which Chandler sent him a congratulatory letter on his new position, and Neuharth replies with a thank you and a request for a copy of the speech; two letters of correspondence between Otis Chandler and Peter McBean, in which McBean congratulates Chandler on a great speech and also asks Chandler to make a contribution to the school, and Chandler replies with a thank you and informs him that a contribution is not possible at this time.

    Copy of a speech given by Otis Chandler at before San Francisco Security Analysts on February 21, 1967. Also in this folder a memo to Freddie Miller from Paul N. Bertness regarding the speech; a letter from Richard A. Holman, Publisher, The Wall Street Transcript, to Otis Chandler informing him that his speech was selected for reprint and attached a copy of the reprint; a four page document regarding the 1966 Highlights of the Times Mirror Company; and a copy of a speech (in a pamphlet) given by Albert V. Casey, President, The Times Mirror Company, entitled "The Knowledge Industry: Today and Tomorrow."

    Los Angeles County Commission on Human Relations Annual Meeting

    Two variations of a speech given by Otis Chandler at the Los Angeles County Commission on Human Relations on Wednesday, June 8, 1966. Attached to one of the speeches is a fact sheet on the Los Angeles County Commission on Human Relations. Also included in this folder is a note from "SPC" to Freddie Miller regarding request for copies of the speech; ten letters written to Otis Chandler commenting on his speech, two are negative, two offer suggestion on how he can address the problems he stated in his speech and six are letters of praise, attached to one of the praise letters is a copy of a response letter from Otis Chandler; a program from the meeting; a copy of "News & Views on Human Relations" the Commission on Human Relations of Los Angles County newsletter; a one page fact sheet on the Los Angeles County Commission on Human Relations; newspaper clippings regarding Mayor Sam Yorty's loss in the elections and his attack on the Los Angeles Times and Otis Chandler regarding Chandler's speech; two pieces of correspondence between Mrs. Meyer Price Stern, Chairman of the Commission on Human Relations, and Otis Chandler, in which Stern thanks Chandler for attending and Chandler thanks Stern for being invited; four letters of correspondence between Rabbi Alfred Wolf and Otis Chandler regarding inviting Chandler to be the guest speaker, accepting the invitation to be guest speaker, and congratulations on winning the Pulitzer; attached to these last letters is a letter from John A. Buggs, Executive Director of Los Angeles County Commission on Human Relations, expressing his delight in Chandler accepting the invitation to be guest speaker and he also relays information about the actual event.
