    Approx. 100+ items: LAT editorials and news stories plus transcripts of broadcast media related to Nixon's activities in 1959. Some look at his chances for the presidency in 1960, others at those situations that might thrust him into the presidency (the death of Eisenhower while in office) ; LAT news stories, editorials, profiles and other material on Nixon during the presidential campaign year of 1960, and a smaller number of in-house memos ; LAT news stories about Nixon as well as copies of the columns he wrote for the newspaper during 1961, commenting on national and international affairs in his capacity as ex-Vice President of the United States. Also included are a smaller number of in-house memos related to columnist Nixon.

There is also one clip, dated 3/28/1929, "Whittier picks best orators...Richard Nixon wins first in elimination," which opens: "In the local finals of the National Oratorical Contest at Whittier Union High School Richard Nixon, 16 years of age, a junior, won first place in a field of eighteen."

    Approx. 75 items: LAT news stories and other material on ex-Vice President Richard Nixon in the 1963 - 1964 time frame. Also in this folder are several LAT editorials and columns on Nixon from 1974 [?] including the editorial published 8/7/1974, "The President should resign," in which LAT wrote: "We ourselves especially feel the betrayal of Mr. Nixon. This newspaper has supported him...through a political career (and) more often cheered than criticized. As recently as 1972 we supported his bid for reelection....(We) must now conclude that he is at the end of the political road." Also tear sheets of article, Historical Society of Southern California (Quarterly), date unknown, " 'Rabbits and radicals' - Richard Nixon's 1946 campaign against Jerry Voorhis" ; LAT news stories about Nixon as well as copies of the columns he wrote for the newspaper during 1961, commenting on national and international affairs in his capacity as ex-Vice President of the United States. Also included are a smaller number of in-house memos related to columnist Nixon.

    Approx. 15 items: tear sheets and copies of LAT editorials and news stories related to the activities of pension activist George H. McLain between 1942 and 1954. Also in the folder is an article copy from Frontier (mag), 4/1951, "Lobbyist for the aged," pp. 5-9. LAT was critical of McLain. A 1954 editorial was headed "Pension grab is with us again."
