Palmer's 40-yr. long career with LAT (beginning in 1920) included political coverage, editorial writing, and much more. He became a powerful individual with the resources of the LAT behind him. He was known as "the Little Governor" in the days before television, to give an indication of his influence. He could make or break the political career of almost anyone. There are many underscorings in red ink, plus some marginal notes

William "Bill" Thomas (1928-2014) was appointed by Otis Chandler to be the seventh executive editor of the Times in 1971 and stayed in that position until his retirement in 1989. He started at the Times in 1962 as an assistant city editor and the metropolitan editor. Includes correspondence, internal memoranda, policies, press releases, speeches, strategic plans, clippings, scrapbooks, and photographs. Date range is 1962-1993.
