Description

Central files from the Times Mirror Accounting Department, arranged alphabetically by subject. The files, which range in date from 1884 to 1966, are most complete between circa 1925 and 1960 and detail the financial activities and real estate holdings of Times Mirror, the Los Angeles Times, Times Mirror Printing and Binding House, Chandis Securities, and the Chandler Family. Of particular importance are copies of Times Mirror's Articles of Incorporation in 1884 with amended versions to 1938. Date range is 1884 - 1967.

    The full range of Times Mirror's financial activities during this period are documented in this series. The series constitutes the central files of the times Mirror Accounting Department and describe the affairs of Times Mirror, the Los Angeles Times, Times Mirror Press, Harry Chandler and his descendants, and the Chandis Securities Company. The material dates from the founding of the corporation in 1884 through 1966, but was compiled and maintained by the accounting department between 1925 and 1960.     Includes items from the Elke Corley Collection, (received from Elke Corley of Times Mirror Corporate and coordinator of Times Mirror's Olympic projects) and from various outside sources, includes magazines, maps, reports, books, programs and artifacts. The corporate material gives some indication of Times Mirror's participation in the 1984 Olympics. Includes maps, lists, reports, contracts, and objects. The official report for the 1984 Olympics is three bound volumes. Date range is circa 1932-1984.

    Manuscripts

    Simpson was Vice President, Human Resources, for the Times Mirror Company in the 1980s and 1990s. Files from Simpson, arranged chronologically. One folder of correspondence. Seven folders on the topic of compensation, including stock options, incentive plans, and insurance options. Date range is 1981-1994.
