Subjects include: describing "phone calls from the breakfast table" of Governor Reagan or Nancy Reagan when they were unhappy about a Conrad cartoon (both Reagans disliked Conrad's work) or an editorial ; description of Dorothy B. Chandler upsetting Ronald Reagan at a private dinner party by "lecturing him" about his behavior toward the University of California Board of Regents (of which Dorothy Buffum Chandler was a member) ; other interesting anecdotes about Dorothy Buffum Chandler, in her senior years, offering her thoughts in the wrong setting or at too great a length ; description of Otis' visit to Lyndon B. Johnson Ranch in Texas, days before John F. Kennedy assassination - a wild hunting trip with Lyndon B. Johnson and Lyndon B. Johnson's thoughts about John and Robert Kennedy and how he, Lyndon B.     Approx. 5 items: approx. 80-pp. of transcripts of interviews, likely by Marshall Berges, with Otis Chandler. The interviews were conducted on several days between 8/1980 and 2/1981. The remarks range across many topics: race car driving ; a four-day visit to the Lyndon B. Johnson Ranch in the 1960s ; other Times Mirror business ventures in broadcast media. Part of this material is a 25-pp. transcript of an interview of Otis Chandler by Michael Jackson of KABC (radio). Segments of the 1980 interviews deal with corrections Otis wished to make to comments made earlier.

Subjects include: Nick Williams becomes Editor (pp. 2) ; Norman Chandler's memories of Harrison Gray Otis (pp.4 - 6) ; Norman Chandler meets Dorothy Buffum at Stanford, they married in 1922, Norman Chandler did not graduate - "I wasn't enthusiastic about college" ; Dorothy Buffum Chandler comments that in the 1920s, Los Angeles Times did not mean as much to her and Norman Chandler as it did later, it was just a job (pp. 12) ; In the early 1940s, Norman Chandler began to be motivated to run the paper (Harry Chandler died in 1944, pp. 14) ; the recall of Mayor Frank Shaw, "he was a bad egg and we went overboard in supporting him...which I think was a mistake" (14 - 15) ; politics - Barry Goldwater, Ronald Reagan (pp. 16) ; Otis Chandler named publisher (pp. 17) ; Bassett asks Dorothy Buffum Chandler if, in the late 1950s, she felt Los Angeles Times needed to "shift more to the middle of the road? - she answered "Very much so."
