- This collection contains research material, presumably compiled by Dard Hunter, Jr., about decorated papermaking. The research material consists of images of the covers and title page of books, which are accompanied by identifying notes and drawings of paper patterns and have small samples of the original papers attached in many cases. The majority of these books are German-language publications from Pennsylvania from the mid-18th to mid-19th centuries. The notes and correspondence, when dated, indicate that the research was taking place on or around 1954. There are also about one hundred loose paper samples and five manuscripts, presumably collected for their decorated covers.
