Accompanying the letter is an 1897 issue of The east Texas pinery, which contains an article about the 4th Texas Cavalry Regiment, Byron Ludwell Taylor, Captain J. M. Crosson, and the battles of Glorieta and Valverde, New Mexico. Also with the letter is a fragment of an additional letter by Taylor.
