The collection consists of the business records of the Cucamonga Citrus Fruit Growers' Association from 1896 to 1927. It includes journals, ledgers, cash books, time books, letter books, receipts, and other material. There is also some correspondence, most of which is addressed to the Cucamonga Citrus Fruit Growers' Association Secretary, J. A. Beattie, and some information about box labels.

Manuscripts

The collection consists primarily of field notes, maps, and business records related to Nathan W. Stowell and his land development and irrigation interests in the Cucamonga area, Los Angeles, and the Imperial Valley. The collection is organized alphabetically by folder title. Included are copies of the field notes from Los Angeles area surveyors Henry Hancock, George Hansen, and William P. Reynolds from the 1850s to the 1870s, as well as copies of maps and plats from the Cucamonga and Los Angeles areas. Business records include seven volumes consisting of deeds, articles of incorporation, and lawsuits related to Stowell's interests in the Cucamonga Company, the Cucamonga Water Company, the Cucamonga Fruit Land Company, and the Cucamonga Water Company. Most of these volumes include an index listing the individuals and corporations that are included. Subjects in the collection include: history of Southern California business enterprises and capitalists, irrigation, real estate development, and real property. Individuals who appear in the collection include the land and irrigation developer George Chaffey, Imperial Valley developer C. R. Rockwood, and the surveyor William Rich Hutton. The Southern Pacific Railroad Company and the Farmers and Merchants Bank of Los Angeles also appear as subjects in the collection.

Administrative Series contains records relating to various facilitative operations within the Alamitos Land Company, including, but not limit to, account books, annual reports, appraisals, articles of incorporation, audits, balance sheets, bylaws, correspondence, financial records, financial statements, inventories, ledgers, legal documents, minutes, stock certificates, and titles (property rights). This series is organized alphabetically. A small number of oversize administrative records are stored under the Oversize Series. Commercial Properties Series include a wide-ranging type of records relating to the company's commercial and industrial portfolio. As per the original order, records are grouped under the headings of their respective commercial properties or projects, which include, but not limit to, Alamitos Beach Townsites, Alamitos Tract, Bixby Center, Bixby Ridge, Brawley Beef Packing Plant, Brawley Steam Wells, Firebaugh, Geothermal, Hathaway Apartments, Hathaway Business Park, The Knolls, Long Beach Tidelands, Luckey Ranch, Palo Verde and Spring Retail, Paramount Business Park, Recreation Park, Reservoir Hill, Rosemead Flair Business Park, Signal Hill East Unit, Tract 10548, U.S. Navy Depot, and the Willows Office Building. All commercial properties and projects were located within the State of California. This series is organized alphabetically.

Manuscripts

Legal and financial records of the Kern County Land Company. The majority of the material deals with land development, but there are several items dealing with water-supply in Kern County. There are also approximately 45 stock certificates for Luz Electrica de Jalapa, in Spanish, dated 1893, and four copies of an 1895 edition of The Californian.
