    Journal contains Pierce's accounts as a brigadier general during the Mexican-American War while marching from Veracruz to Perote, Mexico. He discusses the health of the troops, fears of yellow fever, camps, mules and transport, travel challenges, engagements with and attacks by Mexican fighters, the weather, and the current situation in Jalapa. The journal also contains Pierce's musings on war and includes the detailed orders issued by him on July 13. The first page appears to have been written in retrospect and describes the sea journey to Veracruz onboard the transport Kepler, which departed on May 27 and arrived in Mexico on June 27. Journal has been bound with the title "Franklin Pierce His Diary of the Mexican War 1847 Original Autograph Ms."

    Susan B. Anthony letter to an unnamed editor

    Letter by Susan B. Anthony addressed to "Mr. Editor, Dear Sir," written on letterhead of Fowler & Wells, Phrenologists and Publishers. Fowler & Wells published the first two volumes of Susan B. Anthony's History of woman suffrage (1881). The letter reads: "By my request our publishers mail to you tonight, the advances sheets of "The History of Woman Suffrage," that you may be able to bring out your notice of it as early as our New York papers -- the book will not be handed them until Friday. Hoping that your reviewer will give these pages a careful reading and a just if not generous report thereof. I am Sir - Respectfully yours Susan B. Anthony."

    The Correspondence series is arranged chronologically and contains letters from Frank to his family members, most notably his sisters and to Susan, about his experiences during the Civil War. Also included in the series are letters from Frank and Susan to their children when they traveled around Europe in 1892 visiting such cities as Rome, Glasgow, Oban, Dingwall, Edinburgh, London, Brussels, Berlin, Vienna, Venice, Florence, Naples, Interlacken, and Paris. There are also letters from their children, most notably their daughters Bertha, Grace, and Olive, as they traveled around the United States. The Manuscripts series is arranged alphabetically and contains a typed collection of letters written by Frank McGregor titled "Letters to the Folks at Home from Frank McGregor of the 83rd Regiment O.V.I. Army of the Mississippi." The letters date from 1862-1865 and span McGregor's time in the Civil War. Also included, is a short composition written by Susan B. McGregor recalling details about a story her mother, Olive W. Wilder liked to tell about going to a ball.
