The collection consists of ten letters to Roberts and a receipt for payments by Roberts to Sumner Black Coal, an Arapaho. The authors of the letters include Reverend Franklin Spalding, Missionary Bishop of Colorado; Reverend Ethelbert Talbot, Missionary Bishop of Wyoming, and Idaho; Reverend J. B. Funsten; and George H. Sands, a Major in the U.S. Cavalry and commanding officer at Fort Washakie, Wyoming. The correspondence deals with affairs on the reservation, its residents, staff, and finances. More specifically, Reverend Franklin Spalding asks about the progress of Sherman Coolidge, an Arapaho priest and John Roberts' assistant.

In this letter, written to a friend and fellow naturalist in Albany, Torrey talks about his book Flora of the northern and middle sections of the United States, which at this time was being issued in parts. Logan is presenting a group of facsimile reproductions of historical documents that are important to the history of California, "The California Collection." He asks Rolle to "keep the enclosed material confidential for the time being...intend making a formal presentation of the collection to the Huntington Library when the package is complete."

Edmund Kean letter to John Lee

This letter is written to John Lee at Theatre Royal, Richmond, Surrey. Kean asks "What day do I open in Cheltenham?" He also complains about money and someone he calls a "stupid son of a bitch." The letter is not dated but the letter has the posted date of 1831, August 1.
