HM 83937-83938: Two-volume report, "Angeles Forest Trails," compiled by Division of Hiking, Nature Study and Conservation / Public Recreation - Works Project Administration (W.P.A.) Project SA - 2290 / Sponsored by Los Angeles County Department of Recreation Camps and Playgrounds, dated 1936. The scrapbooks consist of carbon-copy typescripts, illustrated with original photographs, maps, newspaper and magazine clippings, almost all of which are pasted into the volumes, although a few newspaper clippings and an occasional photograph have been laid-in and dates from 1936-1938. The volumes include information provided by various committee members about the geology, birds, flora, fauna of the San Gabriel Range. HM 83937 includes various recreational resources as far east as the Mojave Desert, while HM 83938 details local recreation areas on the North Fork of the San Gabriel River. The basic information about the Angeles National Forest in each volume appears identical.

    The Peabody Collection consists of 672 glass plate negatives in various sizes, 1054 film negatives in various sizes, 24 photograph albums, 887 loose photographs in a variety of formats, published works, and manuscript material, created and collected by Henry G. Peabody, 1859-1993 (bulk 1890s-1900s). The materials collectively describe Peabody's long career as a commercial landscape photographer working on both the east and west coasts of the United States. The photographs and negatives depict Peabody and his family; landscape views in New England, Canada, the western United States, California, and Mexico; Native Americans; city and landscape views in Great Britain, France, and Switzerland; portraits; architectural renderings; plants and animals; unidentified landscapes; and miscellaneous images. Additional photographers and photographic firms represented in the collection include Alexander Hesler, Charles F. Lummis, and Spence Air Photos. The published works contain photographs by Peabody. The manuscript material provides information about Peabody's negatives; contains catalogs of Peabody's works for sale; describes Peabody's commercial dealings as both a photographer and seller of photographic equipment; and contains ephemeral material collected by Peabody throughout his life.

    San Gabriel Valley Land and Water Company minutes

    The volumes begin with the Articles of Incorporation and By-Laws for the San Gabriel Valley Land and Water Company. Following are the meeting minutes of the company from 1888 to 1893. The first volume (HM 73896) covers 1887 to March 1890. The second volume (HM 73897) covers March 1890 to 1893. There is an issue of the "Orange Trade Reporter," Vol. 3, No. 18 (1897, April 28) in the second volume.

    George Cochrane Hazelton scrapbook

    The scrapbook contains items collected by George C. Hazelton throughout his visit to California in 1879. Included in the scrapbook are: calling cards, labels from wine and champagne bottles, trade cards, menus from dinners, tickets, letters giving him privileges at various clubs, and invitations to events such as the reception for Ulysses S. Grant in San Francisco after his world tour, and a dinner reception for the journalist John Russell Young.
