Three boxes of correspondence and documents (>1600-1670); the subject matter in this collection: the Temple family, mainly during the period preceding and including the Civil War: family affairs (domestic quarrels, lawsuits, marriage arrangements); the management of the household and estates, chiefly at Stowe, Burton Dassett, Padbury and Finmere; relations with servants, tenants, and tradesmen regarding rents, the procuring of provisions, clothing and materials, and the landscaping of Stowe; and occasional reports on the current political situation.

One deed is a grant for life to John de Mapples in Beauchief, Derbyshire (HM 82452); mistakenly attributed to Battle in Sussex by an earlier cataloger. The other five deeds include grants, leases and contracts for the Abbey of St. Martin at Battle, Sussex (HM 82453-82457).

Notable correspondents include: Daniel Augustus Beaufort (son of Sir Francis), Harriet Henrietta Beaufort, Lady Honora Beaufort, Charles Sneyd Edgeworth, Frances Anne Edgeworth, Maria Edgeworth, Archer Thomas Upton, and Lestock P. Wilson. Also included are poems by Maria Edgeworth, one of which is written to Sir Philip Crampton, Surgeon General of the Forces of Ireland. The photographs are mainly of Edgeworthstown House, the Edgeworth family home in Co. Longford, Ireland.
