Description: A collection of miscellaneous documents and letters concerning Parliament and the New Model Army. The collection includes: a Parliamentary document addressed to a committee in Bedfordshire regarding the administration of collecting men and money for the Army (HM 82611); a receipt for provisions of coats, etc., for the pressed men in Reading (HM 82612); a letter from Oliver [Leeks?] to Noble Sir (HM 82613); instructions for impressing men for the Army for Sir Thomas Fairfax; and a copy of Charles I's 1626 speech to Parliament, followed by a speech of the Lord Keeper (HM 82615).

A collection of documents, typewritten transcripts and printed material; it includes: a 1643 naval document signed by Robert Rich, 2nd Earl of Warwick (HM 82943), a 1743 annuity receipt signed by Sir Robert Rich and Elizabeth, his wife (HM 82944), typewritten transcriptions of documents (1597/98-1642) relating to various Rich family members (HM 82945-82947) and printed material (1836-1933) that includes an engraving, and clippings relating to the Earls of Warwick and the Earl of Holland (HM 82948).

A compilation of records concerning the island of Guernsey and other Channel Islands from the reign of Elizabeth I through that of Charles II

Manuscripts

An early modern compilation, in several hands on varying lots of paper, of contemporary copies of records pertaining to the history of the island of Guernsey and (to a lesser extent) of the other Channel Islands. Includes copies of a series of petitions of Guernsey inhabitants sent to James I's commissioners Sir Robert Gardner and James Hussey in 1607 complaining against Governor Sir Thomas Leighton, and against the bailiffs and jurats, about various economic, social, legal, and religious issues. Also included is a later (late 17th century?) series of copies of earlier legal, administrative, and personal records concerning the various Channel Islands from Elizabeth I's reign through the Restoration, various lists of officials from the 13th century on, extracts from laws and regulations, etc.
