    This is a 17th century copy of a manuscript by Valentin Boltz. The complete title is: "A limning boock, or a book setting forth of lively colours shewing how all sortes of colours are to be made and prepared, necessary and usefull for clarks, painters, and limners and well wishers to the art of painting or limning. Annexed thereunto some new artificiall experiments, never yet published in print." On the title page the author's name reads: "Valentine Poltzen von Rufach."

    Notes of lectures by Dr. Edward Swift Dunster

    The notes cover lectures chiefly about obstetrics and women diseases as well as Scarlet Fever and Measles. The author of the notes is unknown but might be a relative of Lyman Brewer who himself received a medical degree from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor in 1932 and was the former owner of these notes.

    A bust-length studio portrait of an unknown Union soldier (possibly an officer in the 22nd Colored Infantry Regiment) facing forward with his eyes looking off to the right. The soldier has full, neatly trimmed mutton chops, a clean-shaven chin, a thin mustache, and a high forehead. "Henszey & Co., photographers, 812 Arch Street, Philadelphia. Duplicates furnished at any time by sending name, and number of Negative. No. 8501" stamped in black on verso, with "8501" handwritten in pencil.
