  Journal that André kept while aide-de-camp to Charles Grey, from June 11, 1777 to November 15, 1778. There are no entries for the period from Dec. 30, 1777 to June 1778. The journal covers the Philadelphia campaign and its aftemarth, including the battles of Brandywine, Germantown, White Marsh, and Monmouth; British raids in New Bedford (1778, Sept. 5-6) and Martha's Vineyard (1778, Sept. 10-15) and Baylor's massacre at Old Tappan, N.J. (1778, Sept. 27) Also included are returns of troops under the command of Sir William Howe and Henry Clinton.

  Jamaica journal & reporter: manuscript newspapers

  Although these manuscripts are unsigned, their style, art work, tone, humor and handwriting, suggest that they may be written by Abraham Leech. The two issues of the "Jamaica Journal & Reporter" are dated November 25, 1846 and November 1847. They discuss the Mexican-American war and United States politics during that period through articles and hand-drawn cartoons. The newspapers specifically talk about the war, Colonel Santa Anna, the US and Mexican governments, Wall Street financier Jacob Barker, Reverend Colonel James Hazard Perry, and events happening in Jamaica.

  Franklin Pierce Mexican-American War journal, Mexico :

  Journal contains Pierce's accounts as a brigadier general during the Mexican-American War while marching from Veracruz to Perote, Mexico. He discusses the health of the troops, fears of yellow fever, camps, mules and transport, travel challenges, engagements with and attacks by Mexican fighters, the weather, and the current situation in Jalapa. The journal also contains Pierce's musings on war and includes the detailed orders issued by him on July 13. The first page appears to have been written in retrospect and describes the sea journey to Veracruz onboard the transport Kepler, which departed on May 27 and arrived in Mexico on June 27. Journal has been bound with the title "Franklin Pierce His Diary of the Mexican War 1847 Original Autograph Ms."

  W. Frederick Mayes diary

  This diary, kept by W. Frederick Mayes, begins on November 22, 1869 and continues to November 27, 1870. Mayes kept this diary while he was in Honduras building a railroad. He talks about the railroad, his fellow employees, the local people, the villages he comes to, the weather, the geography, etc. He specifically talks about Chamelecón, the Chamelecón River, and the villages of El Chapparo and El Espino, Honduras. Mayes drew several sketches in his diary. These sketches include scenery, villages and people.
