Description
This indenture is between Elijah Weeks, B. W. Croake and L. E. Meyer. It gives Weeks "the right and privilege...to dig, drill, bore for, develop, extract,...hold, own, sell and remove all oil and gas" from a section of land in Los Angeles (owned by Croake and Meyer). The document also contains an extension to the original agreement.

    Indenture from Hinckley in Leicestershire

    The indenture is a "Surrender and Regrant." Thomas Rawlat of Hinckley (about 14 miles SW of Leicester) was granted property by Thomas Sainsome, Thomas Smith, Ralph Robinson, and Thomas Wrightman. This indenture cancels their previous agreement and re-grants a cottage in Hinckley to Rawlat by charter. Sir Edward Howard, Sir John Trevor, Thomas Trevor, William Jackson and Robert Bragg all the Lords of the Manor of Hinckley, as was Charles Howard, Earl of Nottingham. (All are identified in the indenture). The indenture was granted on March 24, 1604/5. It was witnessed by William Bacon, Richard Baber, Thomas Cowy, and Thomas Godfrye (the signatures are on the verso).

    Indenture from Buckinghamshire

    This indenture is for "divers Manors and Hereditaments being the Buckingham Estates" between Francis Barchard, William Woodgate, Richard, 2nd Duke of Buckingham and Chandos, Richard 3rd Duke of Buckingham and Chandos, and William Henry, Baron Leigh of Stoneleigh. This indenture was in extremely fragile condition, with significant loss of text; in 2003, the Huntington Conservation Department encapsulated each page in mylar so the pages cannot now be removed from the mylar sleeves.
