A collection of 22 miscellaneous and unidentified images including exterior views of the Los Angeles County Health Department in Alhambra on Shorb Street between 7th and 8th Streets. There are four photographs of Los Angeles County Health Department buildings, one photograph of an unidentified house, nine reproductions of watercolor architectural renderings, two reproductions of pen and ink architectural renderings, and six photographs of dairy farms and houses.

This collection consists of seven photograph albums documenting a range of departmental activities of the Los Angeles County Department of Health, from approximately 1930 through 1932. The volumes include photographs of the following subjects: The Habitations of Unemployed in Los Angeles County, 1932 (volume 1) Activities of the Bureau of Inspection, 1932 (volume 2) Sewage Disposal Methods in Los Angeles County (volume 3) Picture Story of Milk in Los Angeles County (volume 4) Olympic Village, Los Angeles, 1932 (volume 5) Miscellaneous Scenes of Los Angeles County Department of Health Activities and Buildings (volumes 6-7) The Bureau of Housing and the Bureau of Inspection are two of the divisions represented in the collection. The photographs depict such things as housing, schools, water supply, swimming pools, sewage disposal, dairy farms and milk plants, garbage and refuse disposal, and general sanitation to name but a few topics. Of particular interest is the volume documenting the "Hoover Towns" which sprang up throughout Los Angeles during the Great Depression (Volume 1). In contrast is the volume showcasing the "state-of-the-art" housing for Olympic athletes who were in Los Angeles for the Tenth Olympiad in 1932 (Volume 2) The photographers represented in these volumes are unidentified except for an instance where initials are provided. Volume 4 was compiled by Richard A. Koch and volume 5 was compiled by C. G. Kahlert. The majority of the images are accompanied by lengthy captions and they are transcribed in the finding aid where practical.

This collection contains seven volumes of photographs and text covering activities of the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services from 1930 to 1932. The Bureau of Housing and Bureau of Inspection are two of the divisions represented. The 457 photographs depict housing, schools, water supply, swimming pools, sewage disposal, dairy farms and milk plants, garbage and refuse disposal, and general sanitation, among other topics. The Southern California Regional Planning Collection was donated by the Los Angeles County Regional Planning Department, George Marr, Edward Holden, Glen Blossom, Simon Eisner, and Glenda Hamilton to the Huntington Library in 1997. The Southern California Regional Planning Collection is organized into two series: 1) Published Planning Reports Series (organized by individual item numbers) 2) Internal Documents Series (organized by box and folder numbers).The Published Planning Reports Series contains 1,913 individual items that were generated by the Los Angeles County Regional Planning Commission, Los Angeles County Department of Regional Planning, and other planning agencies and organizations in Southern California. Type of reports include annual reports, area study, comprehensive planning reports, census, conference papers, general plans, guides to zoning and subdivision, planning proposals, traffic and environmental surveys, zoning ordinance, etc. The date range of this series is 1909 to 2003.The Internal Documents Series contains approximately 913 items in 14 Hollinger boxes. Similar to the Published Planning Reports Series, the majority of the documents were generated by the Los Angeles County Regional Planning Commission and Department of Regional Planning, followed by the Los Angeles Department of City Planning. Type of documents include census reports, conference papers, maps, memorandums, minutes, photos, plans, reports, speeches, summaries, etc. The date range is 1924 to 2000.
