A collection of remedies, culinary and household recipes, this manuscript volume appears to be a fair copy with later annotations in the hand of Mrs. Holmes (whose name appears on the upper pastedown), dating from the last half of the nineteenth century. The recipes in the volume range from suckling pig and marmalade to furniture oil and the remedies include how to bleach freckles and make a gargle for a sore throat. Also enclosed is a manuscript originally laid into the volume and now placed in a mylar sleeve; it is a recipe for pomatora, from approximately 1675-1725, and on the verso is an autograph note addressed to "Mrs Jobber."

Contents: Haze (page 1a); The Funeral Bell (pages 1a-b); Voyagers Song. 1837 June (page 2a); Change Not (page 2b); A Rural Scene, afternoon in May (page 3a); The Ark (page 4a); Enoch (page 4a); The Prayer (page 4b); "Every little spring flows on …" (page 5a); "My feeble bark has reached the shore…" (Michelangelo) (page 6a). At the top of page 1 there is a penciled note of authentication by F. B. Sanborn. A leaf containing 2 pages of penciled notes about books, in Sophia Thoreau's hand, is laid with the above.

The Raymentons wrote this volume during their travels across the United States in July to October 1916. Remy spent a month at a civilian military training camp (part of the Preparedness Movement) in Plattsburgh, New York. The diary is approximately 65% in Remy's hand. Some of the diary is recorded in Hazel's hand (but Remy's voice), so presumably this is a fair copy of the original diary. Miscellaneous ephemera is tipped and laid in.

A scrapbook created by Frank K. Cotter in the early part of the 20th century. The leather-bound scrapbook has a printed photo of Cotter pasted down on the title page; there is a modern autograph note, in an unknown hand, laid inside the front cover, with a few other printed items laid into the volume. The poems and short stories in the scrapbook are either printed clippings or typewritten copies, some of which were written by Cotter under his pseudonym Pat O'Cotter. The clippings and copies only fill twenty-five pages with the majority of the scrapbook containing blank and empty pages. The subjects covered are mainly World War I, Alaska, and the Klondike.
