    A series of letters relating to a proposed 1934 South American research trip for entomological researcher Harold Compere of the Riverside County Farm Bureau, who was seeking a parasite for the 'red scale' citrus pest. The correspondence centers on travel expenses and Compere's request that his wife, Joan, be allowed to accompany him on the trip. The majority of the letters are addressed to A.C. Hardison from various citrus industry individuals involved in planning and subsidizing the Compere research project, including L.D. Batchelor (UC Riverside), D.S. Bell (Fuller and Bell Citrus), Carl V. Newman (San Joaquin Fruit and Investment Company), and Harold Compere.
