Description: This unfinished draft for a parliamentary act provides for the better navigation of the river Wye and the protection of salmon in its waters by regulating weirs, dams, locks, the width of open water passages, and the restrictions on catching young salmon and other fish. The bill also enables the mayor, aldermen, and common council of the borough of Hereford to effect and administer the regulations at their own expense, and authorizes them to collect fees or tariffs on goods shipped by river. A slightly different version of the bill was passed as a private act in 1662 [14 Charles II, Cap. 15].
