A small group of Houghton family correspondence. Included are: two letters that Thomas Houghton wrote home from Andover, Mass. (1789, Apr. 21 and 1791, July 24); a letter to Houghton from his daughter Elizabeth (1790, Apr. 4, London); a document appointing Thomas Houghton, Jr. administrator of his father's estate (1797, July 12); citizenship certificate issued to John Harding, a papermaker, native of Great Marlow (Buckinghamshire) who had arrived to Andover from England in 1802 (1808, Apr. 28); three letters (1816-1829) addressed to Mary Agnes Houghton, including a letter of appreciation from the Salem East India Marine Society for her donation of "a medal of the Duke of York;" and a letter addressed to Abraham Marland regarding the estate of Thomas Houghton, Jr.

The collection consists primarily of correspondence regarding the publication of History of the Donner Party by Charles Fayette McGlashan, 1879. Persons represented in the collection by three or more pieces include: Tamsen Donner, Richard C. Kerens, and Charles Fayette McGlashan. There are also two letters from Jessie Benton Frémont to Eliza Poor Donner Houghton, a petition written to President Benjamin Harrison recommending Sherman Houghton for the office of Judge of the U.S. Circuit Court, Ninth District, and a copy of "The California Regiment of 1847" by Albert Gallatin Brackett. There are also nine certificates belonging to Sherman Houghton for various military and political achievements.

Pratt family genealogy and record book

Pratt family genealogy and record book probably kept from around 1912 until the mid-1930s. The beginning of the ledger contains concrete business records from 1912. Later pages include family notes for Anson Pratt, William D. Pratt, and Parley P. Pratt II. Also includes a record of the wives and children of Parley P. Pratt, a list of Joseph Smith's wives, a genealogy of Parley Pratt's mother Charity Dickinson, and an extended Pratt family tree. The back of the ledger contains notes from a publishing fund for Ralph M. Pratt and M.W. Pratt. With the ledger are pieces of ephemera including Pratt family badges from the Pioneer Jubilee Reunion of 1897, an agreement of separation for Mathoni W. Pratt and Agnes Ure Pratt (1935), a copy of the Deseret Evening News (July 4, 1904), a letter from Clyde E. Pratt to Mathoni W. Pratt regarding family records (1933), and some Pratt family genealogy notes.
