HM 83966: George Bentley addresses "Dear Sir" on November 6, 1893. In this letter, Bentley asks the addressee for additional copies of his book After Business. He states he gave away all but 1 of the 100 copies printed. He also asks about a "Mr. Howell." HM 83967: Writing from Tenby Wales, George Bentley addresses "Mr. Cousens" on March 10. Bentley inquires Cousens about the status of a proof and asks to him to sign his name in full at the bottom.

The text of this notebook contains notes regarding Newton's philosophies. The chapters are: Upon Attraction; Of the Prime Mover; Of the orbits of the Planets; Of Comets & their orbits; and A Review of & further discussions upon this System. The author may well be William Whiston, Newton's friend and successor. Included with the manuscript is a letter by B. F. Atkinson, of University Library, Cambridge, to the Curator at the Babson Institute stating that the manuscript is not in the hand of Henry Pemberton (1950, June 1). In modern binding.

This notebook contains handwritten surgical notes (30 pages) by a Dr. Carmen (first name is unknown), probably in California. The notes are undated but the approximate date is 1856. The subjects vary and include: colds, burns, blood vessels, aneurysms, small pox, cancer and many others. There are also a few pages of "General Remarks." The volume also contains a 12-page index near the back of the notebook. Most of the volume is blank. On the inside front cover is a note about the provenance of the notebook.

Francis Xavier Ammann notebook

The notebook consists of Francis Xavier Ammann's lecture notes from his freshman year of college. The notes are a year-long class on histology with a Dr. Carter. Also included are five mimeograph sheets with questions and instructions for assignments or tests and one is a final exam for his freshman year. In the notebook, there is one small sheet of extra notes.

The notebook contains David Cox's notes regarding his medical education and his experiences under the tutelage of Dr. Walter Buell. Along with medical notes, Cox records his thoughts, the weather, his travels, and poetry. There is also a note with a short history of Cox's family.
