A register or possibly calendar of writs with a few miscellaneous notes on individual lawsuits and other legal matters from the reigns of Elizabeth through Charles I, written in Latin in one small careful professional "common law hand." Occasional later fragmentary additions in secretary hands, and in English rather than Latin. Includes an index, or "tabula," at the end.

A set of essayistic and somewhat idiosyncratic definitions of objects, concepts, and qualities fron nature, science, and the arts, arranged in alphabetical order. The first ten entries under the letter A, for example, are for Academy, Accent, Acid, Action in Law, Admiration, Admiral, Adultery, Agarick [mushroom], Agate, and Ages of Man, with two or three paragraphs on each.
