Description: The present volume contains meticulously detailed ships' logs for the Steam Sloop HMS Salamander (April 10, 1833 - February 14, 1834) and the Steam Sloop HMS Medea (February 15-October 17, 1834) during the time each was commanded, in succession, by Captain Austin. During this period the ships were stationed primarily in British home waters: at Plymouth, Woolwich Dockyard, the Thames, and the Channel, and briefly off the coast of northern Spain. Included are fifteen miniature watercolor paintings of ships, coastlines, and the sea.
