In these two letters to his brother, J.D. Duncan writes that he has arrived in the town of Stockton, California from Wisconsin and plans to head north to the gold mines. A year later, he writes that he has found work with "a large Ditch Company." He writes of the current state of crops, of the scarcity of gold, and the danger posed by Indians. Nevertheless, J.D. believes there is still "plenty of gold to be had." HM 25788 is dated 1857, February 4, and HM 25789 is dated 1858, September 13, and both were written in Stockton, California.

This album chiefly contains miscellaneous newspaper and periodical clippings and ephemera from the 1960s related to T.E. Lawrence, though sometimes only peripherally, as well as some brief correspondence from individuals to Duncan concerning her research. The binder also includes a typed copy of telephone conversation with George Edsell on June 2, 1964, regarding his memories as a boy of Lawrence at Clouds Hill. Album has cream-colored covers; with Theodora Duncan bookplate.

This collection contains forty items primarily related to the work of railroad agent and California Development Company receiver W.H. Holabird (1845-1921), as well as some personal and ephemeral items. The first and largest series (HM 73863-73875) is comprised of 13 items including correspondence and one report related to Holabird's survey of Miller and Lux's property for Southern Pacific in 1909. Holabird's surveys were in response to the Southern Pacific's interest in purchasing Miller and Lux and its various holdings. Includes one letter by Henry Miller to Holabird. Series 2 (HM 73876-73878) contains 3 documents related to Holabird's time as receiver and general manager of the California Development Company. Series 3 (HM 73879-73884) is made up of various reports Holabird wrote during and after his trips to the Philippines, Manchuria, and Siberia while working for E.H. Harriman and the Southern Pacific Railroad. This section also includes related correspondences regarding Manchuria with New York City-based journalist George Kennan (1845-1924). The final series (HM 73885-73892) contains 12 miscellaneous and personal items including a photograph of Holabird, biographical and autobiographical materials, letters, and World War I-era essays written by Holabird regarding nationalism and communism; it also includes a folder of ephemera with two copies of the Los Angeles Times announcing Holabird's death and a newspaper clipping written by Holabird on agriculture and irrigation in the Imperial Valley.

This scrapbook contains materials related to the 1962 film Lawrence of Arabia, including 8 x 10 in. black-and-white stills of the film and newspaper clippings about the film and its lead actor, Peter O'Toole. Most items date from the 1960s; the earliest item is a 1953 article about O'Toole. Album has gold covers; with Theodora Duncan bookplate containing handwritten note, "'Lawrence of Arabia' film vol 2 (ie 3)."

In HM 20644, written 1851, December 1, Simpson wishes to be informed of Kern's reconnaissance, and is in need of a good draughtsman. He asks about the current status of George Houghton, and says that Kern will adore Minnesota and St. Paul once he arrives. In HM 20643, dated 1852, May 11, Simpson requests to hear more of the Indians Kern has met with, and is glad Kern has reconciled with Frémont. Both letters contain many inquiries and details concerning Kern's fellow soldiers and colleagues.
