Description: The collection, which deals with the Mexican War, consists of correspondence, military orders, reports, lists of prisoners, and paroles of honor. Participants include: William Orlando Butler, Sylvester Churchill, Ethan Allen Hitchcock, George W. Hughes, Joseph E. Johnston, William L. Marcy, Thomas Marshall, Dixon S. Miles, Henry Lee Scott, Winfield Scott, Lorenzo Thomas, Henry J. Wilson, the Adjutant-General's Office, and the U. S. Inspector General's Office. The material deals with: troop movements, food and supplies, recruiting and enlistments, mustering of volunteers, as well as Jalapa, Puebla, Tampico, and Veracruz, Mexico. Also included are 31 paroles and lists of Mexican prisoners captured in the spring of 1847 and at the Battle of Cerro Gordo. The collection also contains the signed paroles of Brigadier Generals Anastasio Torrejón, and Antonio Gaona of the Mexican Army.
